The award was given to state-owned enterprises which succeeded in achieving the "Very Good" performance rating on ratings conducted by the Infobank Research Bureau (birI) on 119 SOEs.
The 119 SOEs come from 23 non-financial sectors, the banking sector, insurance sector, and SOEs under the Ministry of Finance.
There are seven financial performance indicators that are used as the basis for the assessment of the BUMN rating. The seven indicators are the profile of risk management profile, GCG composite value rating, capital, asset quality, profitability, liquidity, and efficiency.
Of the 119 BUMNs rated, only 61 BUMNs won the title of "Very Good", the highest predicate on ratings conducted by the Infobank Research Bureau. The assessment was conducted on the published financial performance of the last two years, namely 2016 and 2017.
"Inefficiency is still a common challenge for SOEs. One indicator is seen from the ratio of operational costs to operating income that is still high. Of the 119 SOEs, 56 of the BOPO companies are above 90%, 19 of them have BOPO above 100%, "said Eko B. Supriyanto, Director of the Infobank Research Bureau.
The classic challenge that still haunts SOEs in carving out performance is the existence of interventions, both from the bureaucracy, politicians, and a number of parties. Despite facing severe challenges, there are still 61 state-owned enterprises that have successfully recorded their best performance. "For that, they deserve appreciation," said Eko B. Supriyanto.
During the "9th Infobank BUMN Awards 2018" event, special awards were also given to 6 special achievements with BUMN. There are two categories of special awards given, namely The Highest Tax Payer State Owned Enterprises for the largest tax-paying SOEs and The Most Profitable State Owned Enterprises for the most profitable SOEs.
In addition to special awards, Infobank also provides "Golden Throphy" and "Platinum Trophy". Golden Trophy was given to 15 BUMNs that managed to maintain the "Very Good" performance title for 5 consecutive years. Meanwhile, Platinum Trophy was given to 12 BUMNs that managed to maintain the "Very Good" performance title for 10 consecutive years.
"SOEs that won the Golden Trophy and Platinum Trophy deserve to be given a standing applause. They are able to maintain their best performance for five and 10 years without pausing, in an unstable economic condition, "said Eko B. Supriyanto.
