Jakarta, April 2022. PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk. (Stock Code: WSKT) through its business unit, the Building Division has again won a new contract for the construction of the Medan – Binjai, and Medan – Araskabu (JLKAMB 1) Railway projects with a contract value of IDR 126 billion. In addition to the railway line, Waskita also won a contract for the Construction of the Medan Station Building and Emplacement Phase II (JLKAMB 6) with a contract value of IDR 382 billion.

The construction contract was signed by the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Building Division, Anak Agung Gede Sumadi, and Muhlis Hanggani Capah, ST, as the Contract Signing Officer (PPK) of the Ministry of Transportation at the Aryaduta Hotel Medan On Thursday, April 14, 2022. The signing was also witnessed by the Head of Class II Railway Engineering Center for Sumbagut Region, Dandun Prakosa.

This station is very strategically located in the center of Medan, precisely in front of Merdeka Square and close to other historic buildings such as the Medan Post office and City Hall, that is the Grand Aston Hotel now, Dharma Deli Hotel, Bank Indonesia, and the London Sumatra Building.

This station is a large-class type B train station located on the border between Kelurahan Kesawan (Medan Barat) and Gang Buntu (Medan Timur). Located at an altitude of +22 meters above sea level is The Main train station for PT Kereta Api Indonesia Regional Division I, North Sumatra and Aceh, which serves thousands of passengers every day to various regions in North Sumatra.

Waskita Karya's Director of Operations, I Ketut Pasek Senjaya Putra said, that this work project had many challenges, especially the construction of the Medan City Main Station.

"The construction work for Emplacement, and the Medan Station Building Phase II is a development project that full of challenges because the station is still actively operating. Some of the challenges encountered in this work are The location where the elevated track has been built, and the lower track is actively used, " said Pasek.

Meanwhile, Waskita Karya's SVP of Building Division, Anak Agung Gede Sumadi, said that the heavy equipment used in this Job includes bore pile machines, cranes, and gantry launchers, which requires space or free space to carry out activities.

“Each of these projects takes 900 days to complete. Coordination with the Railways is very necessary because The Job can be carried out during window time or the train is not in a position to serve passengers in raising or lowering passengers at the station or the work point," Agung added.

To note, the Construction of JLKAMB 1 for the Medan – Binjai route is carried out from Km 0+000 to Km 1+745 (P0 - P8), and for the Medan – Araskabu route, which is Km 0+000 to Km 0+500. Waskita's scope of work on the Construction of this Railway will include; Preparatory Works, Technical Support Works, Pier Works, and Track Works. Meanwhile, the Construction of JLKAMB 6 is the Construction of the Elevated Train Station. The Work Point is at the Existing Station (Medan Station), which is actively operating. Waskita's scope of work on the construction of this station is; Preparatory Works, Earthworks, Bore Pile Works, Pile Caps, Piers, Box Gliders, Voided Slabs, Steel Structures Mechanical, and Electrical.
