PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk as a contractor has completed the Gondang Dam located on the Garuda River, Kerjo District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java Province. The dam, which is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN), was officially inaugurated on 2 May 2019 by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

Gondang Dam construction has been carried out by PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk since May 30, 2014 with a contract value of Rp 595 billion covering coverdam works, tunnel inlets, tunnel outlets, main dams, spillways, tower intakes, landscaping, and electrical mechanics.

The Gondang Dam which has a capacity of 9.15 million meters3 was built to meet the raw water needs of the capital cities of Karanganyar Regency and Sragen Regency with a discharge of 200 liters per second for 200,000 people, and irrigation of 4,680 hectares of agricultural land. In addition, this dam also functions as a flood controller, a 0.2 MW micro hydro power plant, a tourist destination and a conservation of the Garuda River Basin.

"With the water supply from the dam, farmers who previously can only be planted once a year, are expected to be able to plant 2-3 times later," said Director of Operation III of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk Fery Hendriyanto.

Also present at the inauguration ceremony was President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo accompanied by PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Karanganyar Regent Juliyatmono, Director General of Water Resources Ministry of PUPR Hary Suprayogi, Director of Operations III of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk Fery Hendriyanto, SVP Infrastructure 3 Division PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk Aris Mujiono, and VP Infrastructure 3 Division PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk Norman Hidayat.
