Visiting Tokyo, Waskita Karya Establishes Cooperation with 2 Japanese Construction and Energy Giants

PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk through Independent Commissioner Muradi, Main Director Destiawan Soewardjono, Director of Operations III Warjo, and the Directors of Subsidiaries entered into a cooperation agreement for the development of the renewable energy generation business with the two largest construction and energy companies in Japan, Kajima Corporation and J. power.

During his working visit to Tokyo, Destiawan explained that the comparative study conducted by the Waskita Karya delegation had the opportunity to review several relevant and ongoing Kajima Project locations in Japan. "Apart from reviewing the project, Waskita and Kajima also agreed to share knowledge and joint research starting with a visit to the Kajima Technical Research Institute in Tokyo. Kajima also opens up opportunities to collaborate in the development of engineering knowledge in Indonesia. In addition, Waskita Karya with Kajima and J. Power also agreed to develop a renewable energy generation business in Indonesia," explained Destiawan.

On the same occasion, the Waskita Karya delegation also held a meeting with the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Heri Akhmadi at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo. Here in his direction gave full support to strengthen Waskita Karya's cooperation with Japanese contractors, especially business and research synergies in the construction world. “The importance of cooperation with Japanese contractors, namely Kajima and TOA by Waskita. This is to support the competence of our engineers in improving the quality of work that refers to implementation standards in Japan,” said Heri.

Heri explained that the potential for derivatives from renewable energy is quite a lot and is needed in Japan such as Ammonia; liquid hydrogen and smelter for a nickel. So, it is hoped that Waskita Karya can continue to encourage and explore opportunities for cooperation with companies in Japan, which are not limited to only in the technical field of construction but include infrastructure financing. “Some National Strategic Projects (PSN) such as the National Capital (IKN) require synergy between Japanese contractors and Indonesian contractors. For this reason, it is hoped that this collaboration will go well, especially in IKN work," added Heri.

Heri explained that in supporting the need for research collaboration between Waskita, Kajima and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) also needed to be carried out to increase competence and maximize the local potential that supports development. "I encourage joint research between Waskita Karya, Japanese companies, and academics in Indonesia. Integrated collaboration needs to be carried out, namely exploring business opportunities through strategic partnerships, as well as strengthening research and innovation capacity through joint research with Kajima, Waskita, and BRIN, "explained Heri.
