LRT South Sumatra is Ready to be Operated for Asian Games 2018

Palembang, July 10, 2018. PT Waskita Karya Tbk (Stock Code: WSKT) as the contractor of Light Rail Transit Project (LRT) South Sumatera, today received a working visit from the Office of the Presidential Staff (KSP) represented by the Deputy I Infrastructure Team Coordinator Office of Presidential Staff, Febry Calvin Tetelepta, in preparation for the inauguration of the functioning of LRT South Sumatra. The working visit of Deputy I of KSP to LRT South Sumatra is to see and ensure that all LRT work has been carried out in accordance with the plan, and all LRT facilities and infrastructure system has been working well and ready to be officially operated by the President to support the Asian Games XVIII Year 2018.

LRT South Sumatra is the only project of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk which is an assignment from the government through Presidential Regulation 116 year 2015 on Acceleration of Railway Train Operation in South Sumatera Province. This project is done with a contract value of Rp 10.9 trillion and is targeted to operate before the implementation of the Asian Games XVIII Year 2018.

For information, LRT South Sumatra has a total length of 23.4 kilometers of track that stretches from Sultan Mahmud Badarudin II Airport (Palembang City) to Jakabaring Sport Center area to OPI / Ogan Permata Indah area and passes over the Musi River. Along the track there are 13 stations and supporting operations facilities in the form of 9 (nine) electrical substations, 1 (one) wide depot, and third rail electricity 750 VDC. The train track has a rail width of 1,067 mm. The type of work of South Sumatera LRT is very varied, consisting of land work, construction work, depot station, and other work requiring high technology mastery both for facilities and infrastructure and its operating facilities. Overall the project is an elevated track construction with third rail for power supply, and uses slab track technology (without ballast) on rail tracks and fixed block signaling. Toward the inauguration, LRT South Sumatra has undergone a series of LRT facilities and infrastructure testing in May 2018, as well as a dynamic test on June 21, 2018 from Jakabaring Station to Palembang Icon Station.

The LRT project in South Sumatera is also a synergy of 3 (three) SOEs between PT Waskita (Persero) Tbk and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) which covers the operation of LRT & its lane and PT Len Industri (Persero) which includes signaling system, telecommunication system, electricity substations or substation, signal on depot, and infrastructure for electronic tickets. Deputy I of KSP was welcomed by Director of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk, I Gusti Ngurah Putra, Director of Operation I, Didit Oemar Prihadi and SVP Division I, Septiawan Andri P. Present also in this event President Director PT LEN Industri ( Persero), Zakky Gamal Yasin, and General Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daniel Johannes Hutabarat.
