PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk participates in providing skills for students, especially from the Faculty of Engineering who will graduate from college by opening an internship program. This time, the Company opened an internship program for two universities in Malang, East Java. Brawijaya University (state universities/PTN) and Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University (private universities/PTS) were selected to cooperate with the Company in the internship program.
According to the Company's President Director, Destiawan Soewardjono, this internship program is expected to provide skills to students before they graduate from college. Later, after the internship at the Company, the students will gain a lot of knowledge and benefits. The collaboration with these two universities was marked by the signing of an MoU between the Company and the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya and the Company and the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Tribhuwana Tunggadewi.
“I think the internship program that the Company holds is very useful for students who are still confused about where to go after graduation. Therefore, it is hoped that after their internship at the Company, there will be a lot of knowledge and benefits to be gained. The company does not only open an internship program for students from PTN but also private universities," said Destiawan in Malang, East Java.
"Because if the Company only opens this program for PTN, then who will pay attention to students from PTS. Therefore, I hope that this internship program can be utilized as well as possible by students from the two universities,” he continued.
The MoU between the Company and Brawijaya University involves 9 departments, namely the Department of Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Study Program, Mechanical Engineering Department, Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Water Engineering Department, Water Engineering Study Program, and Electrical Engineering Department, Electrical Engineering Study Program. Then there is also the Department of Architecture, S1 Architecture Study Program, Urban and Regional Planning Department, Urban and Regional Planning Study Program, Industrial Engineering Department, Industrial Engineering S1 Study Program, Chemical Engineering Department, Chemical Engineering S1 Study Program, Engineering Profession Department, Professional Engineer Study Program.
"Meanwhile with Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University, the purpose of our MoU is to carry out synergistic and mutual cooperation activities in the implementation of student internships, research, and community service," said Destiawan.
Destiawan said that this internship program will contain 20 credits and is in accordance with the curriculum that has been set by the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) of the Republic of Indonesia. "This program is also in line with the program from the Minister of Education and Culture, namely Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) which at that time was part of the Independent Learning policy by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
On this occasion, the Company also provided scholarships to four Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University students through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. While at Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University, Destiawan also gave a guest lecture with the theme Sustainable Building and Certification Systems 'Project Management'. In the signing of the Company's MoU with the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya also attended the Head of SER Unit of the Company Poppy Sukmawati, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya Hadi Suyono, Deputy Dean 1 of the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya Indradi Wijatmiko, Deputy Dean 2 of the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya Ismu Rini Dwi Ari, and Deputy Dean 3 of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya Herry Santosa.
Meanwhile, during the MoU between the Company and Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University, the Chairperson of the Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University Foundation was also present, Bambang Guritno, the Chancellor of the Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University, Eko Handayanto, and members of the Foundation as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University, Hesti Poerwanto.
