BPJT Appreciates the Alertness of Betung Ship Toll Repair

PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Waskita Toll Road has repaired on the Kayu Agung - Palembang - Betung (Kapal Betung) toll road, which has been given an appreciation by the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT). The repairs have been implemented since 8th January 2022. are reported to have reached 95% progress. This appreciation was expressed to PT Waskita Sriwijaya Tol (WST), As the manager of the Kapal Betung toll road after BPJT visited to observe firsthand the repair work on the toll road has been operating since 2020.

Comprehensive repairs were carried out on the Kapal Betung toll road in the form of patching the damaged road using Coldmix Baro-Baro asphalt from Korea, where the asphalt can dry up in a few hours, so it can be used immediately. In addition, WST has increased the number of traffic signs of 250 RC, 100 signposts, and 100 stick lamps that will light up at night along the toll roads, and appeals for vehicle speed limits through banners and VMS. Four (4) Sign Patrol teams have been formed consisting of two (2) Contractor QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) elements teams, two (2) QHSE element teams for Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) operating 1×24 o'clock. The Patrol Team is also tasked with maintaining and repairing damaged signs and re-installing missing signs. Thickening and increasing supervision of the function of these signs will be assisted by toll road operations vehicles in the field operating 24 hours a day.

During his visit, the Head of BPJT Danang Parikesit expressed his satisfaction with WST's fast movement in repairing the Betung Ship section. "Our visit schedule on this occasion was to observe directly the use of Cold mix asphalt used by WST. Cold mix asphalt is easy to implement and has good durability, so it is hoped that the Kapal Betung toll road will continue to maintain good toll road quality in the future," said Danang.

Previously, the President Director of WST, Herwidiakto, had conveyed the WST target in repairing the Betung Ship section. "Our target is that all potholes and damage in the Kapal Betung section can be closed by the End of January 2022. After that, if new damage finds, it will be covered with Coldmix asphalt with a maximum target time of fewer than 1×24 hours. This Target exceeds the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) for toll Roads, where the SPM for Road repairs is a maximum of 2×24 hours. So it is hoped that the Betung Ship Section can reach zero potholes in the future", explained Herwidiakto.
